Vehicle inspections for insurers

The policyholder photographs their own car from their phone, under visible anti-fraud controls, and the broker gets a report ready to send to the insurer.

Context

A pre-inspection of the vehicle is mandatory before a motor policy is issued or renewed, and it's where the friction piles up: agree on a time, send someone to look at the car, take the photos, assemble the report, send it on.

The product inverts the flow: the policyholder takes the photos themselves, from their own phone, guided step by step, and the insurance broker receives a complete inspection without leaving the office.

The system's user is the broker. The policyholder shows up once, through a link, with no account and nothing to install.

The problem

Take the coordination off the broker's plate without losing control of the risk. An inspection captured by the policyholder is cheaper and faster, and it's also easier to fake: photos of a different car, old photos, a photo of a photo.

The whole design turns on that tension.

Scope

A guided seven-photo sequence. Front, left side, right side, rear, dashboard, VIN, and damage detail. Each step shows a reference image of what the shot should look like before the camera opens.

Visible anti-fraud controls. Every capture is watermarked and carries its metadata: GPS, server time and hash. The broker sees them next to each photo, along with any flags the system raised, plus a summary badge at the top.

The controls are visible because the broker has to be able to show them to the insurer.

Nothing in the policyholder's way. Mobile web, no login, no native app. They arrive through a link sent over WhatsApp or email, and the link expires on its own.

PDF report. The deliverable the broker sends the insurer: photos, metadata, flags and policy data in a single A4 document.

Broker panel. The state of every inspection: pending send, awaiting capture, completed, expired.

Claim reporting. The same guided capture mechanism, applied to the moment of the accident instead of the moment of issuance.

Prototype screens

Broker

  1. Dashboard — active inspections, completed this month, links awaiting capture, subscription status, and the inspections table with search by plate or policyholder.
  2. Create inspection — enter the data and generate the link on the same screen, with sending over WhatsApp, email or direct copy.
  3. Inspection detail — the seven photos with their flags alongside, summary badge, metadata and comments.
  4. PDF report — the generated A4 document.
  5. Create claim — the flow variant for a vehicle that has already been in an accident.

Policyholder (mobile, portrait)

  1. Reference — which photo is next and how it should look.
  2. Live camera — capture with on-screen guides.
  3. Watermarked preview — the shot just taken, with the metadata chip visible, to accept or retake.
  4. Claim capture — the same sequence, adapted to a damage report.

Administration

  1. Admin dashboard — volume per broker, account and subscription status.
  2. Subscription — plans and payment.

What it excludes

  • Native apps: everything is web, and the policyholder flow is portrait mobile only.
  • Any login or account for the policyholder.
  • Automated damage assessment or claim valuation: the system captures and organises evidence, it doesn't price it.
  • Direct integration with insurer systems: the deliverable is the PDF.
  • In-app notifications, support chat, guided onboarding and automated suggestions.
  • Social login and international payment gateways.
